Towards an Ecological Intelligence: Engaging the Common Book
Presenters: Joan Monahan Watson and Mary Ann Lewis
Monday, October 5, 2009
11:00AM - 2:00PM
The Inn at Virginia Tech (Room TBD)
Description: Daniel Goleman’s Ecological Intelligence, Virginia Tech’s current selection for the university-wide Common Book Project, serves both as a primer for exploring our role as individuals in both local and global communities, and as a highly accessible segue into the academic and interdisciplinary discourse of sustainability. As we prepare for Daniel Goleman’s campus visit to discuss his text and the thematic manifestations of its content, CIDER and First Year Experiences invite you to join us in a conversation about the common book. In this colloquium, we wish to explore the implications for teaching and learning with the common book as well as the implications for promoting a thematic thread of sustainability across campus and throughout the community.
Special Note: Lunch Provided
